Latest Information on Access to Kamikochi
Thank you for your continued patronage of Gosenjaku Hotel Kamikochi.
Starting with the 2025 season, there will be several changes to the means of accessing Kamikochi.
To ensure you enjoy a comfortable and seamless journey, please review the latest information below before your visit.
For Customers Using the Bus
Beginning with the 2025 season, there will be changes to the Kamikochi Line’s bus operations and fares.
Access Improvements
Your trip to Kamikochi will become more enjoyable and smoother.
- Increased service: Additional departures from Shin-Shimashima to Kamikochi have been added, making access more convenient. (Departures at 8:00 and 14:50)
- Direct operation: Routes that previously required transfers will now run directly, enabling smoother travel.
- Change to final departure times: The final departure times will be changed to 17:55 from Kamikochi, 14:47 from Matsumoto Station, and 15:30 from Shin-Shimashima.
Introduction of a Reservation System
Advance reservation system: A reservation system will be introduced for buses departing from Shin-Shimashima to Kamikochi. (Departures/arrivals at Azumidokoro are not included)
Fare Revisions
Fares for some sections will be revised.
- Matsumoto Bus Terminal – Kamikochi Bus Terminal (National Park Liner): 4,450 yen
- Shin-Shimashima Bus Terminal – Kamikochi Bus Terminal: 3,000 yen
Child fare: Children aged 2–5, who were previously free of charge, will now require a child fare. (One child under 2 years of age remains free of charge)

For Customers Using a Taxi
Beginning with the 2025 season, the flat-rate taxi fare between the Sawando area and the Kamikochi area will be revised, transitioning to distance-based fares.
Changes
The previous discounted fare will change to a fare structure based on actual distance.
The Sawando area is divided into two zones (① Chaarashi / Iwamidaira / Ikejiri, ② Second Parking – Ohashi).
The Kamikochi area is divided into three points (① Taisho Pond, ② Imperial Hotel, ③ Kamikochi Tourist Center).
A flat fare will apply according to the distance between each zone and each point.
New Fare (Standard Car)
※ Departure Point → Destination → Fare
Sawando Upper Zone (Chaarashi / Iwamidaira / Ikejiri)
- Taisho Pond: 4,200 yen
- Imperial Hotel: 5,100 yen
- Kamikochi Tourist Center: 5,400 yen
Sawando Lower Zone (Second Parking – Ohashi)
- Taisho Pond: 4,900 yen
- Imperial Hotel: 5,700 yen
- Kamikochi Tourist Center: 6,000 yen
